Introduction to Filters
What are Filters?
A filter is a mechanism which returns a subset of data based on your desired criteria. For example, you can create a filter which would return data for all expandable ads running on a given app. By creating such a filter and applying it to any of our reporting pages, those reporting pages would only return data for those filtered items. So, such a filter applied to an Engagement report would return engagement data for all expandable ads running on a given app.
How are Filters Used?
Once created, a filter can be applied to:
Filters Tutorial
| Let's Build a Filter In this tutorial we will be creating a filter to retrieve data for all expandable ads occurring in all apps and campaigns during the month of February. |

Set Criteria for the Filter

| Step 2) Review the results of your filter | |
| As you were building your filter, Medialets Ad Reports was updating the filter results for your preview. If the filtered results are not what you desire, simply edit filter.
If the filtered results are still too broad, refine your filter by adding another criteria. For example, we could choose to ad a filter so that only expandable ads running on a particular campaign are returned. |

| Step 3) Name your filter | |
| If you want to save your filter for use at a later date, create a name for your filter. If you will be using this filter to generate Scheduled Reports, you must name and save your filter. If you will not be saving your filter, skip to Step 5 and Apply Without Saving. |
|
| Step 4) Share your filter? | |
| Select the teams with which you wish to share this filter. Team members will not be able to edit or delete your filters. |
|
| Step 5) Save your filter | |
| Choose Save Filter to save and apply your filter OR choose to Apply Without Saving to apply your filter. You will be returned to Ad Reports to view report details. | |

Scheduling Reports
Medialytics offers you the ability to customize your reporting experience by supporting user-defined scheduled reports for distribution to your team members and additional personnel. Setting up a scheduled report requires that you define a filter and a few additional reporting and report delivery options. These scheduled reports are exhaustive and include information beyond that available through the online Impression and Clickthrough Reports and Engagements Reports.
Only a report's creator may edit it.
Scheduled Report Tutorial
| Let's Build a Scheduled Report In this tutorial we will be creating a scheduled report retrieving information for all expandable ads occurring in all apps and campaigns from the inception of the campaign to present. This report will be a CSV file emailed to selected recipients weekly on Mondays. To create a scheduled report, you must first define a filter on which to base your report. To create a filter, see Filters Tutorial. |
Access Scheduled Reports
To Access the Scheduled Reports List Page:
- Navigate to the Scheduled Reports List Page
From Primary Menu, scroll over Reports > Ad Reports > Click Scheduled Reports in Tertiary Menu
- Click Add a New Scheduled Report at the end of the Scheduled Reports List
Create a Scheduled Report
| Name your Report | |
|---|---|
| Supply a name for this report. The report name should be descriptive and summarize your report. | |
| Select a Filter | |
| Select a filter on which to base your report. The filter will define what data is retrieved for this report. For our example, we select a filter returning expandable ads occurring in all apps and campaigns. To create a filter, see Filters Tutorial. |
|
| Select an Interval | |
| Select the interval at which this report will run. Your first report will be delivered on the next interval matching your selection. Depending on your selection, you may be required to supply a Day of Week or Day of Month. For our example, select Weekly. In the Day of Week dropdown, select Monday. Our report will be delivered on the following Monday. |
|
| Select a Time Range | |
| Select a time range against which your report will collect data. In our example, we wish to collect data from the inception of the campaign to the present, or Campaign to Date. Range options include:
|
|
| Select a Delivery Format | |
| Select the format for your report. If you select an Excel file, your report will include the raw data, an introductory page, and a Pivot Table to help you organize your data. For more information on Pivot Tables, see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/pivottable-reports-101-HA001034632.aspx. If your report is expected to be large, we suggest selecting a CSV file. A CVS file is a simple text format file which will open in Excel but, because it does not apply any formatting, will be relatively smaller to deliver and will only include the raw data. |
|
| Select 'Roll-Up' Fields | |
| Typically the generated report will segment data based on Ad Slot Name, Platform OS, App Version. However, if this segmentation is not important to you, select which fields segments may be rolled up, or truncated. For example, rolling up Platform OS will report the impressions for ads on iPhone, Android, and Blackberry combined. A report that has any of the available field rolled up will produce a considerably smaller report file. |
|
| Select Report Recipients | |
| Select team members who will receive this report via email. All members of your teams will be displayed for your selection. You may also add additional report recipients by supplying their email address. | |
